Abstract Submission

Research contributions are welcome in the form of Abstracts. The abstracts should reach the Secretariat not later than 1st June 2012.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the ISEO Permanent Scientific Committee, and by the conference Scientific Committee. The presenting author will be notified of the final amendments and acceptance before June 15th, 2012.

The definite acceptance of the research contribution and the publication in the Symposium Abstract Book are contingent upon payment on schedule of all fees due (15th June 2012).

  • Participant registration is needed before submitting an abstract.
  • After registering you will receive an email with your username and password which you can use to submit your abstract, through the "Personal Area".
  • The abstract will remain as a draft, which will allow you to return to the stored form and revise its content at any time before the deadline.
  • When you are ready for the final submission, please access to "Personal area" and validate it on "Save and submit". Validation is needed to submit the abstract. No more changes will be allowed after the final submission validation.
  • On receipt of the abstract a confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address of the corresponding author as indicated on the abstract form.
  • The Scientific Committee reserves the right to decide if the presentation will be delivered as an oral or as a poster presentation.
  • At least one of the authors of the abstract is requested to register and pay as participant in the ISEO2012. Failure to pay will result in exclusion of the presentation.
  • Each author may submit a maximum of two abstracts per registration.

Abstract format guidelines

  • Online abstract submission is required, by clicking on the link below.
  • The Abstract must be written in English.
  • The abstract should address the problem and the purpose of the study (OBJECTIVE); how the study was performed (METHODS); the main findings (RESULTS); and the main conclusions drawn from the study (CONCLUSIONS).
  • Title: Provide a concise and informative title that reflects your work content of no more than 160 characters (with spaces).
  • Authors and affiliations: The author(s) must be indicated by their surname(s) followed by initials without dots. Underline the name of the presenting author (i.e., Loureiro FCL1, Sobreiro FCL2).
  • Email: include the email address of the presenting author.
  • Keywords: provide a maximum of 6 keywords separated by comma. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.
  • Main text: Write a concise abstract (about 2000 characters with spaces, without acknowledgments and references). References cited in the main text should be numbered in the sequence in which they occur in the text and indicated in square brackets (i.e., [1]). The use of tables, figures and formulas should be kept to a minimum.
  • Acknowledgments: These should be brief (about 200 characters with spaces) and appear separately at the end of the abstract.
  • Reference style: References should be numbered in the sequence and listed in the following style:

Abstract evaluation

  • The evaluation of abstracts will be made by the members of the ISEO Permanent Scientific Committee, and by the conference Scientific Committee.
  • The evaluation Committees reserve the right to reject an abstract if the submitter does not comply with the requirements listed above.

Special issue of the Flavour and Fragrance Journal (FFJ) dedicated to ISEO2012

The Flavour and Fragrance Journal will dedicate a special issue to the publication of full papers from ISEO2012 under the coordination of Prof. Dr Ana Cristina Figueiredo and Prof. Dr Patrizia Rubiolo as Guest Editors. Posters and oral communications at ISEO2012 in the form of full papers are eligible to be published in the Flavour and Fragrance Journal special issue. All participants are encouraged to submit their articles to have a special issue fully reflecting the ISEO2012 quality.

The manuscript submitted for publication in the Flavour and Fragrance Journal will be subjected to the usual peer reviewing FFJ procedure. Before writing their manuscript, the authors are encouraged to read the journal guidelines. Manuscripts will have to be up-loaded into FFJ web site before the end of the congress. They will be notified about acceptation directly by Flavour and Fragrance Journal guest editors.
